19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
It is his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serving game.
He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He defended four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
